JALT Conference: November17-20, 2017

According to the MOU signed between Japan Association for Language Teaching (NPO JALT) and Nepal English Language Teachers’ Association (NELTA) in 2017, Motikala Subba Dewan, President and Ishwari Bahadur Adhikari, General Secretary of NELTA were invited to participate and present paper on Material Adaptation in the Multicultural Classroom in the JALT Conference in Tsukuba, Ibaraki from November 17-20, 2017 at the invitation of Dr. Richmond Stroupe, JALT President. The theme of the JALT Conference was Language Teaching in a Global Age: Shaping the Classroom, Shaping the World. It was the Annual International Conference on Language Teaching and Learning & Educational Materials Exhibition, held at Tsukuba International Congress Center (Epochal Tsukuba). The theme of the conference addressed the vital need for foreign language skills in the multicultural world and the special mission of classroom instructors to prepare students to survive and thrive in a global age. The theme also highlighted the increased contact that learners have with foreign tourists, residents and co-workers from around the globe, the new communication technologies that enhance borderless language learning, and the need for language instructors to "think globally, teach locally. It was indeed another milestone in the history of NELTA to sign an MOU with JALT for professional development of teachers and the exchange visit. The Conference was a huge success as well as the visit of NELTA President and General Secretary.
