Bell Centre Teacher Training Scholarship
Nepal English Language Teachers' Association (NELTA) in collaboration with Bell Centre UK announces a scholarship for a short course on "Skills of Teacher Training" to be organised at Bell Teacher Campus, Cambridge , UK from 2 – 15 August 2009.
This course aims:
• to help participants develop the skills they need to run formal pre-service and in-service teacher training courses, and to run less formal workshops for teacher development programmes,
• to address the needs of teachers with different first languages and those working in a variety of context.

Selection of candidates
The selection of the candidates will be based on open competition among the NELTA life members who have been involved in teaching and training. NELTA has formed a committee who will review the applications and the short-listed candidates will be interviewed. Top five applications will then be submitted to Bell Centre for final selection and name of the candidate who will be selected for the course will be announced. Please be reminded that it is not NELTA who will make the final selection. NELTA will only facilitate the process.
Candidate profile
• Given that this is a course to develop a NELTA trainer, it is vital that the very best candidate is chosen. Efforts will be made to identify a NELTA member who will make a real difference on their return to Nepal . Candidate who is able to make a substantial contribution to NELTA activities including the training of teachers is the one NELTA wish to target. Preference will be given to those who have not had training opportunities abroad
Candidates should normally;
• be a life member of NELTA
• have successfully completed a Master's degree in English Education or related subjects
• have been involved in teaching English for three years
• have conducted some sort of teacher training at least for a year

Funding arrangements
The expenses of the course will be covered by the Bell Centre, UK . The scholarship will include;
• return airfare (economy class)
• course fee
• accommodation
• food
All the incidental expenses and pocket money will have to be covered by the candidate themselves.
